I regret buying this foolish novel of Black maids. The author may have capture a place in time, but the voice of her maids was not there. It was not an authentic read, what was she really trying to do? Cover and explain away her own guilt? As for her maids,what individual suffering from 300 years of horrific abuse and servitude can so easily be persuaded by a 22 year old to place themselves and their families in danger.
The author only “stero typed” those characters tht were comfortable for her- say the abusive black male,drunking, wife beater. She made sure she had a Mammy, a benevolent White woman, The Sassy No Nonse Black Female. The white trash that did not know she was better than the nigras…please. In fact she was the best…sterotype in the work.
Interestlying, she did not mention the white male “hots” for the Black female “seductress.” What happen to all the rapes that many of the maids her subject too,or the “fair babies borned” as a result of these assults. I am Black and it grieves me to read a significant part of black life being marginalized,miminized and partonized by a self serving individual who has no idea of the black psyche.

I have heard maid stories all my life, my mother, aunts, cousins and extended family…
The author fails to understand that this was survival, the only means for many to feed their families. Good women that only wanted to be safe. These women spoke among themselves about the “folks” they took care of. Maid stories are paramount in black literature/history. They were not all that in love, and devoted to White Folks. It was their job. A job that they did too well!

The books seems to have some kind of redemption for the author and all the “good white women”, “who just did’nt know, didn’t see” but now they see and “its all good.”

The story reminds us of the cruelity felt by black women/children by the mistress of the house. Often times more cruel than their conterparts the white male.

How easily people get the wool pulled over their eyes! This man is not God and so much of what he says goes completely against the Bible. I know people like to do what ever feels good to them and Walsch says that is ok. In reality, that is not the Truth. Jesus said “I am the way, the truth and life. No one can come to the Father excecpt through me.” John 14:6. If you want to talk to God, read the Bible, Pray and know that Jesus died for you. Do not be mislead! God wants you to find him.

Great hand mixer! Lightweight and more than capable of handling most jobs. Very rarely ever get out my big mixer. I would recommend this to everyone!

Kindle has been the best product EVER purchased. So easy to use and many books are free. When I had a problem, late Saturday afternoon, the Kindle techs are there 24/7 for me and so kind and patient for a 70 year old that can’t figure out simple technology. This confirms my love for my Kindle even more. The company is there for me to help me ‘get rid of my technology challenged questions’. Great company that stands behind their name. There isn’t much you can’t get on your Kindle anymore. I needed a song book in church, I got it in 3 seconds, on my Kindle.

The body of the watch is kind of wide and thin. My main complaint is that the minute hand doesn’t really slightly for every second, but hangs around that area until the minute changes.

This is the best money I have spent on a technology item in a long time! It benefits the whole family. I have mostly only added apps and video but I plan to add audio books as soon as I have some time to browse titles. The battery doesn’t seem to last very long, but I bought the wall and car charger separately for very cheap so that I can keep it charged.

The concept of this book is interesting. The substance is scary, from a biblical viewpoint.

I bought this for my daughter’s birthday. I love it – thinking about purchasing one for myself. She has found all kinds of apps to download and loves to use it for facebook (helps keep her off my computer).
