I own three buffalo NAS products. I purchased a 300GB LinkStation approx 3 years ago, a 1TB TeraStation Pro about 20 months ago and a 1TB TeraStation about 6 months ago. I used my LinkStation for backups of my data files, but it starting acting a little buggy (I could not access password-secured directories reliably) so I purchased the TeraStation Pro. Since it is a RAID enabled device, I stored all my data on the TeraStation Pro. After about 6 months it started to display the same buggy behavior related to access to password-secured directories.

Customer Support couldn’t diagnose the problem or give me a good solution. I developed a very cumbersome workaround: I have to disable password protection every time I want to access the data. But wait–IT GETS EVEN BETTER!

Last week the TeraStation Pro beeps and shows that one of the drives is bad. The display also indicates that the RAID array is not working and that the drive is opearating in DECAY mode (meaning data is at risk because RAID is not working). Support told me it’ a simple fix: buy a new drive and swap it out. After all, this is why I bought a RAID capable NAS device–to prevent catastrophic data loss. I spent $100 on a new drive, installed it and got the same error again for the new drive. After several rounds with their support staff we determined that the RAID controller in their device is bad. The four drives in the device (and the fifth I bought but didn’t need) are fine. Since this occurred after the 12 month warranty expired, they won’t replace the defective unit or offer a replacement at a discount. They just leave you high and dry. If you are buying this device to protect important data, photos or other media files go buy a device that works reliably and is sold by a manufacture that stands behind their product (e.g. NetGear ReadyNAS NV+). I would avoid any products made by Buffalo.

I recently bought and read “The Social Network Business Plan 18 Strategies That Will Create Great Wealth” by David Silver and what I read really really opened my eyes to what the possibilities are with social networks. This book takes you step by step through 18 strategies to give you a business model for great success with your social network. I often found myself thinking, “Wow these are fail safe strategies for anyone who yearns to be a entrepreneur!” If your looking to create a business or another revenue stream online I HIGHLY RECOMMEND that you read this book!
The Social Network Business

This is clearly a teen book and not aimed at adults, but I discovered it on a list of books for “those who were going through Harry Potter withdrawals.”

It isn’t Harry Potter by any stretch of the imagination. And it isn’t perfect. But it is very readable and with the exception of the over-the-top dwarf character (Mulch Diggums) it is constructed well enough that the story is fun and surprising.

I’ve read through the third book now and have ordered the fourth. They are not great works of art, but certainly readable and worth buying.
And No One Cheered

I had brought a timex pedometer and at times it would not calculate my steps. I have had no problems with this one. You can put it in your pocketbook or pocket and it still calculates. I love it, I wear it everyday.

i used this to enclose my hdd that i took out of my PS3. product looks sturdy and nice. also easy to assemble. what i didn’t like was that instructions was on mini cd-rom, and formatting was a bit confusing but i got it done after some manipulating. PS3 USERS BEWARE: instructions suggest formatting to a npfs file format but PS3 will not recognize it so you must format it to a FAT32 which is a 32gb partition.. it took me about a week to realize this. overall good product, good price, good design.

Turn on the wii, baby (& get Netflix)! From canoeing with family members, to swordfighting with friends, to cow-racing with acquaintances, to watching old episodes of Fraggle Rock, wii will have you laughing, rowing, slashing, lassoing (a la Indy!), and yes, now watching for as long as you can stand it! We’ve had our wii about six months, and it just got better! We just started our Netflix subscription a few weeks ago, and we love that too! With a Netflix subscription that includes the ability to stream, if you’ve got an internet connection to your house, you can watch any one of TONS of movies and TV shows (stuff you can’t get on OnDemand!) My beau was especially excited about the 21 Jump Street Episodes Be prepared to spend more than just the purchase price for the wii – there are lots of fun extras that you kinda need, extra wii-motes and nun-chucks, in addition to the games (tip: always read the reviews on the games, I’ve bought a doozey or two, & if i had read the reviews here on amazon, I would have saved my $$ for a better game). But, if you have kids or you are even just a couple who goes out a lot, the wii (& now, netflix) may save you some money in the end, and you’ll spend more time together, doing fun stuff. And after all, isn’t that what life’s all about?

Thanks to wii and netflix, we eat at home more (saves money, gas, & calories); watch fewer commercials (they’re bad for the psyche AND the wallet!); are more active with our entertainment; spend more time with family & friends; spend less time aimlessly channel-surfing; enjoy more varieties of entertainment, like documentaries, old TV shows, and musician stuff; are more conservative with spending $7-15 per person to see a movie in the theatres (that we hopefully will enjoy!); and actually look forward to spending time at ho
Buy Wisely Eat Well

I can honestly say that this book just plays to anyone who is weak and searching for something to absolve them of their own guilt. TO say that God doesn’t care what you do or how you live your life, is so absurd that only idiots would believe that. IF you are a christian then you should know that the Devil will lie and he knows the bible as good as the Lord himself. To me this is just another way to corrupt our youth and conflicted and floundering Christians. It isn’t a shock that Oprah endorses this. Look at her connections. Isn’t it convenient that she is behind Obama 100%? I hope that he doesn’t listen to her in areas of spirituality or our whole country will be in peril. If you are truly looking for a good book to read read ” In the grip of grace” by Max Lucado.

Yes, i did heat up the water (not boiling hot) before putting it in the unit to start cleaning.
You DO have to be careful with the unit putting it together since the plastic is very flimsy which is a shame since it does the job and was very effective for the room and stairs i used it on. My unit did not come with the piece to clean out the suction area so i just unscrewed the cover off of it and washed it down.

Could this be better? absolutetly! but if you need one that will work this is the machine for you. I used it with the professional pet detergent. I did have leakage when i letthe unit stand upright while i used the stair hand held accessory but a small price to pay to get them clean. This still saves me money by not havingto call in the pros to clean and i don’t need an appt. I just wish they would improve on it.
The Mysteries of Attention

First saw this bike rack at a bicycle shop for over $100. Amazon once again blew that price out of the water. This bike stand is amazing, unbelievable, FANTASTIC! I really can’t say enough about it; this little beauty holds two bicycles with no problem at all and is actually quite attractive. It’s so simple to assemble, and I love not putting any holes in my walls. I recommend this stand 100%.

Can’t believe someone would pay full price at the store. Most stores are about $19.99 for the same thing. Would recommend getting an ‘L’ adapter since it twists coming out of the back of my tv as the cord runs down the wall. Also bought a 50 ft HDMI cord for a little more money ‘cuz I wanted to run the cord to my computer in a different room.
