As other reviewers have reported, this Casio digital chronometer is very attractive with its gold-tone stainless steel band, plastic case, and blue display. However, it does not have a countdown timer, which is a handy feature to use when cooking. Casio may have thought the stopwatch feature could be used to count the elapsed time, but it doesn’t have an alarm to ring at the end of a specified time. Nevertheless, I would recommend it to those who don’t need the countdown feature.

Honestly, I expected to like this book. I love reading books that are adapted into films, so I figured I’d get a head start on this one — anything about a circus, I figured, would at least be interesting. I wasn’t disappointed. The protagonist is likeable, which is a must for me, the plot is well developed, and I like the continual transition from present-day Jacob to twenty-three year old Jacob. That said, I really wish the book were longer. I finished it in a single afternoon and I really thought the ending had been sewn up too quickly: So Rosie the elephant conveniently dispenses with August and our couple are left to live happily ever after…eh… I was expecting something more dramatic, more violent: a Jacob/August showdown, if you will. But the book seems to move too fast to accomodate a scene like this. Really, that’s my only complaint, though.
I snuck a peek at the other reviews before buying the book, and I was slightly put off about references to graphic sexual material and animal cruelty. And I have to say, I don’t get it. The animal cruelty is there, sure, but there isn’t much talk about blood and gore — it’s more about how Jacob responds to the cruelty, in my view. It doesn’t make it any less disturbing, but it’s not really horror movie material either. As for the sex stuff, I don’t get what the fuss is about. You can pick up almost any generic romance novel and read stuff that is far more graphic than what is found here. And I think it’s marketed as an adult novel, so no problems there…
In conclusion, it’s a good book. I’ll probably read it again and I think it’s worth the price I paid for it.

I got a second hand HP color laserjet 1600. I soon realized the reason I received this “awesome” gift was probably because of the price of replacement toner. The yellow toner was the only cartridge that was completely out, so I refilled that one first. Works great so far!

2 major fears that I had before ordering this kit, but it turned out they were unfounded:

1: The instructions are not in “Engrish.” They are clear and thorough.

2: Nothing is missing. The hole-making tool everyone talks about is included. In fact, you also get little plastic gloves and clean-up cloths.

The only tricky part about this kit is replacing the chip. You have to cut this little piece of double sided tape to the correct size and figure out how to get the little chip to slide down in place with said tape attached. I finally found it was easier to fit the tape to the groove instead of to the chip.

Growing up white in the Northwest in the 60’s this was such an eye opener to me because I was never exposed the the blatent predudice as was experienced in the south at that time. I think my mouth was hanging open from disbelief most of the book. I just thought wow no wonder why some black people hate white people. I personally feel the need to apologize to the black race for the south. This book was a page turner. I highly recommend it.

I had previously bought the Weight Watchers bathroom scale, the digital one with the body fat read out, the hydration read out etc. and every time I got on it (like within the same time frame) it registered a different weight. WITHIN MINUTES of getting on the scale. I returned that and got an analog scale. While that one is working fine, I can’t discern weight between 20lb increments … even WITH my glasses on LOL. I read the reviews for the Eat Smart scale here and decided I would give it a chance. I am glad I did. I calibrate it EVERY TIME before I weigh myself (because I move the scale) and I test the calibration with two 5 pound dumb bells. It is spot on every time. If you have been having issues with your digital scale and want to toss it out a window, get this one. I have the one with the step on technology (you don’t have to tap it on) and it works BRILLIANTLY!

It takes out more hair than a traditional pin brush. My golden didn’t like it at first because he has sensitive skin. I realized there doesn’t need to be a lot of pressure exerted to extract the undercoat of his thick hair. I borrowed a neighbors’ brush (she has 2 English Mastiffs) before I purchased my own, and the furminator does appear to dull after much use. I am not sure how old her brush is but it is not sharp enough to remove the same amount of hair as a new one. Not sure how long of a shelf life this brush will have, but it’s great for now…

What can I say that can do justice to this book? It is EXCELLENT and I HIGHLY recommend it to everyone. I purchased this book in December and read it 3 times within 2 months. I could not put it down. I read it through the 1st time highlighting here and there as I went. The 2nd time I read more intently and highlighted still more. The 3rd time I went through and took notes on a legal pad. I plan to re-read it again shortly. It’s just a wonderful, inspirational book that speaks to you. It makes you want to to cry out (just as in the book)…..JUST GIVE ME MORE OF JESUS!!!..Buy it today. You won’t be disappointed.
