18 EF Canon S for you

I wanted a zoom lens but could not afford the one I “really” wanted so this was a good starting point to expand my library of lenses. So far I have been very happy with this lens.

Forgive me Source-Code for I have sinned. For years I was a dedicated PC-gamer. I though ill of gaming consoles, considering them consumer-toys rather than entertainment systems. Who needs overpriced and oversized gaming consoles that can play Movie-DVDs and even BluRayDisks when most good games are released for PCs as well and they look and play better on them? And I was mostly right. However, the NINTENDO Wii is a different breed.

Gaming on the Wii is an experience one has to live at least once – but preferably whenever he or she feels blue. Sure, it may not sport the cutting-edge graphical capabilities of a SONY PS3 or the game titles selection of the XBox. Nevertheless, most Wii games take full advantage of the consoles capabilities and the exclusive games selection include the unsurpassable The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, the absorbing Metroid Prime Trilogy, the mesmerizing Okami and the soothing Endless Ocean: Blue World.
Not to mention the capabilities of Wii Fit Plus and Wii Sports Resort when coupled with a Wii Balance Board!

If you can still find one, I would advise buying the (Limited edition) black one. I keep mine in our TV room and the black blends perfectly with my other home entertainment electronics. In any case, do not miss the revolution.

There is simply no other console that offers so much fun. Both SONY and MICROSOFT have technologically excellent gaming consoles – but NINTENDO is the only one that always keeps in mind that gaming is supposed to be FUN.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Trolley the s Elmira must go on

For all of those of us who were influenced by JD Saliger’s capture of the spirit of adolesence in the 1950s, for those of us who truly commited to reading after devouring the pages of CATCHER IN THE RYE many times over, this is a sad day. The guru of adolescents – then and since then and now – is gone. Adding to the aura of genius as a writer is the aura of mystery that surrounded the greater part of his life: will we ever know the etiology of his silence? With his death we can only hope that the manuscripts that were never published in his lifetime will beign to appear and be available to public evaluation and consumption. Until that time, we can only offer appreciation to a very influential writer of our times. Grady Harp, January 10

Do you really love Massage Day s Father ?

I just purchased a Transcend 8GB SDHC class 6 for my Cannon SX200 digital camera (which can shoot video). I tested the SDHC with H2Testw 1.4 which is claimed to be the gold standard in test software for SD cards. It had no read or write errors and it had a sustained write rate of 10.8 MB/second and a sustained read rate of 18.2 MB/second. This is much better than I expected and well above the minimum for a class 6, so I am quite pleased at this point.

When I bought this damn thing, I thought that I’d have internet on the go. I thought that I would be able to handle the occasional email away from home. I thought that I could keep my calendar synched (a’la Palm Pilot) to a calendar program on my Windows computer…

WRONG!!!

Apple’s business model is still if you want ANYTHING, EVEN a lousy case to put the damn thing in, you have to PAY THROUGH THE NOSE!

You want to connect to your email client on your Windows PC (say, Thunderbird)? Sorry, Charlie, you’re out of luck. There’s NO way to do that!

You’d like to connect to a calendar on your PC? Sorry, Charlie, you’re out of luck. You’ve got to have a mac with iCal or consign your information to some web site monopoly as a go-between.

You want to use logmeinfree to check into your home computer while on the road? Sorry, Charlie, you’re out of luck. It’ll cost you $20 bucks.

You want to play flash media or any of another 1/2 dozen protocols (which is about 1/2 of my internet access)? Sorry, Charlie, you’re out of luck. YOU CAN’T!!! ‘Cause Adobe, etc. won’t give Mr. Jobs the necessary vigorish – won’t pay and pay and pay!?!

Hell, you want a case for the damn thing? Sorry, Charlie, you’re out of luck. It’ll cost you AT LEAST $20 to protect it.

If you have a Windows computer don’t even consider one of these unless you just want a horribly overpriced mp3 player!!!

WHAT A WASTE!!!!
